Like so many arts organisations, River City Voices had to cancel its scheduled program of events for 2020.
Nevertheless RCV rapidly pivoted to online rehearsals via Zoom and on October 15, due to easing of NSW Government restrictions, we were able to have our first face-to-face rehearsals since March. Mind you, we can only have 5 singers under fairly strict conditions, and whilst that's not a choir, our singers really look forward
to their allocated rehearsal week.
For our at-home singers, we've become experts at live streaming!
Also in the pipeline is a Virtual Recording of Morten Lauridsen's beautiful Sure on this Shining Night that would have been performed at our May Come & Sing community event. This little project will be the second of our #RCoVid Concert Series.
Did you hear our first? Handel's Messiah held in the stunning
St Patrick's Cathedral, Parramatta in December 2019 is now up on YouTube!
Here's what one listener had to say about this performance:
"It's over 50 years since I last sang in the Messiah and at 86 I’m way beyond singing anything except croaking my way through an old Gaelic Song. I thought the performance at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Parramatta was absolutely superb. The merging of two choirs plus orchestra sounded absolutely fantastic! It's great that the West has a presence such as this. More power to all of you!"
And we're very proud to share that
Come and Listen!
We have an open door rehearsal policy
6.30 - 9.30pm Thursdays | Cloisters Hall, 1 Marist Place Parramatta
